Poster asks whether George Constanza's use of "because it's there" in The Contest episode references George Leigh Mallory's famous Mount Everest quote.

The Man of Purpose

Gerorge Leigh Mallory climbed Mount Everest in 1924, but he never made it back. He died on the mountain. Before he went there, he was asked why he (or anyone) should climb the mountain, he gave a classic answer: "Beacuse it's there!".

Now, I remember George (our George) using that phrase ("Because it's there!") at some point. Maybe in The Contest... Does anyone remember?
