master of his domain

	Last night on the Jay Leno show, Seinfeld was introduced as
the master of his domain.  What is this a reference from?
	And...(yes, I'm sorry I'm asking this again!) is this on the
FAQ?  WHere is this famous, reclusive FAQ?

This is a reference to the episode in which Jerry, George, Kramer and Elaine have a contest to see who can go the longest without masturbating (known in polite company as the "Self-Denial" Episode). When I saw Seinfeld perform here in Louisville in June. There was a time when Jerry answered questions from the audience. One person asked, "Are you the master of your domain?" His response: "That's rather personal...I do the best I can."

Just wanted to share with everyone how amused I was by the reference to the hand model (can't remember his name) not being the Master of his Domain!

Great episode, I was on the floor laughing (, laughing, falling apart)!

That was perhaps a "little" stilted - but was still a pretty good joke on the self-awareness of the show. Only 2 shows have the chutzpah to use a slang term that it genrated itself- Seinfeld and The Simpsons. THAT was the funny part for me. I had already gotten the drift as to what was going on when the guy eerily stated that "no woman could match the beauty of that hands."

I was also very appreciative to learn who won the contest...

It's nice to hear a reference to a prior show, regardless of it being "blatant". Would it be better if the guy said "King of his Castle" or "tip of the arrow" or "head of the household"?

OK employees of Vandelay Ind, REWRITE THE SCENE FOR THEM.

I though that they could have been a little more sutble about the reference to the previous show (master of your domain), however it was interesting to learn who won the contest (George - "You don't have to worry about me, I won a contest."). I always liked the fact that these catch phrases like 'master of your domain' were seemingly coined by Jerry and his friends, sort of like talking in code (but we all understand). It was a little bothersome to have someone not in the group using the phrase before being introduced to it.

I disagree. I think it kind of fits into Jerry's concept of a show within a show. After all, it might have been an inside joke in the past, but since the show aired about a year ago, the phrase certainly has caught on nationwide, so why wouldn't he be using it too?

Yes, I know that on the show, Jerry is still in the failed pilot stage, but I think that the concept is still there.
