I'm one ticked off Montrealer. I have just finished watching another damn repeat of Seinfeld. By the way, we get the show at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Is Seinfeld on strike or something? No wonder NBC is last in the ratings. It has a quality product but it delivers the same thing time and again. It just antagonizes the viewers. If this keeps up, this matter must be brought directly to PRESIDENT Bill Clinton. Forget Iraq Bill; we've got more serious things here at home.

This repeat must be here for a reason, and since Feb. sweeps are coming up, they must be using these old shows to re-remind us of the old Crazy Joe and NBC Show story lines. Not that we net folks need re-reminding.
Also, this episode kills anyone's idea that the "m" word can't be said on TV ... George's quote, "If there's no story, it's just masturbation," bodes well for a possible repeat of "The Contest" in future weeks ... VCRs at the ready ...

I still get a laugh (esp Kramer scenes) out of reruns but my wife is insulted and refuses to watch :-\ If they have to show reruns why not the best ep. ever - the one about being MASTER of one's domain :-)

I read yesterday that Seinfeld will be moving to Thursday nights, to get away from the competiton of Home Improvement. It didn't give the new time slot.
Beginning in Feb sweeps, the 4th, Seinfeld will be on Thursdays at 9:30pm (Pacific/Eastern). The Cheers/Wings hour will move to 8pm while a second Cheers ep will remain in its 9pm slot, a testament to how low NBC has sunk.
Meanwhile, the original Wednesday slot will pick up a one-hour show while Mad About You has been exiled to Saturdays at either 9pm or 9:30, I forget.

How about Vandelay Industries (the Seinfeld mail group)? All I see lately are plugs for Seinfeld merchandise and one line messages simply quoting someone's favorite line from the show.
I have no problem with folks dissecting the nuances of Seinfeld; after all, it's the nuances which make the show worthwhile. But one-liners I can live without. If you really have to tell us your favorite line, write something intelligent in the body of the message, and put your quote in the signature line.

The typical season runs September through April, plus or minus some weeks. Let's call that 32 weeks. The typical full-year budget is for 22 episodes. That means about a third of the weeks will have to have repeats. Over the holidays, people's viewing habits are disrupted, and so many shows will have repeats. Serial shows, such as LA Law, will tend to start their seasons later and end earlier to avoid breaking up the story too much, while for sitcoms, it doesn't really matter. For those shows you wind up with a much longer period of summer repeats. There were also two episodes during August, if you remember, which probably are part of the total.
While this information is from NBC, it is also the standard for other networks.
