borrowed subplots...

Last week they ran the repeat of Seinfeld where George get's smarter (and Elaine dumber) by not having sex.

On The Naked Truth Dave gets smarter through some weird nose spray. Both episodes make references to Phenomenon (I know I just spelled that wrong, what can I say? I don't have a tumor).

Anyway, while the subplots were different (main point - Seinfeld : funny, Naked Truth : dumb) they were similar enough to make me wonder if NBC ran that rerun of Seinfeld on purpose. It seems unlikely that they would do that, not to mention kinda stupid because it just make Naked Truth look worse, but I seem to remember them doing that before, stealing an idea from Seinfeld and running the episode it was stolen from. It think it was on the Single Guy.

Any insight into this?

NBC reruns episodes in the same order they were originally aired...so, in effect, NBC is running through season 8 at two different rates, one, the up to date order, and the other, about 8 episodes behind, run at approximately a one to one basis. NBC will run through all of season 8 in May, then again (in repeats) in July, at which point they will rerun (probably) select (high-rated) episodes from season 8, until season 9 begins..in September...
