So far, tonight's episode, THE STRONG BOX, has garnered some positive reviews from denizens of the newsgroup.

I must say, I have to rate it a solid average episode. This is a classic case of a 'throwaway', or a 'track filler' on an album: it's one that was put together without any cogent effort (at least, on an unconscious level...I have absolutely no doubt that they worked hard- ostensibly, anyway- on crafting the episode). There weren't any discernible, definable hooks in the show for viewers to grasp and remember. It wasn't particularly quotable; the office coolers will only be used to acquire h-two-o tomorrow...there will be no need for slacker-discussion conversations about what the Seinfeld gang said and did. The acting was flatlined, the deliveries seemingly afflicted with pathological molasses sloth. It did, however, play better the second time around. There just wasn't enough punch to the show for me this evening, but like I said earlier, it was average, and average is passing, so it's not a total loss (and hey, if I feel so inclined, maybe I'll act like a prof who's in the mood for scaling). As always, that little dumpling Dreyfus portrayed a cute little Lanie...our little Lois Loan, indeed! So adorable and endearing...great cheekbones...wonderful little package (her Jay Leno chin does disturb me at times, though :)...

After last week I thought they really had something going- and then THE STRONG BOX blows it. Some problems: 1) They didn't establish that Jerry had to meet Jerry Lewis so much that he WOULD dig up a grave for the cuff links. It should have been someone he really worships- I don't think we've ever heard him say he likes Lewis before!

2) Kramer was way too stupid in this episode. I think he would have better ideas about where to hide the key. Is he on drugs? Is this what being around Keith Richards is like? This reminded me of the early, early episodes where Kramer WAS a complete doofus.

3) This wanting to break up but can't thing has happened before. If they're going to repeat they need to do something like having George try to 3-some idea again and both of them being into it.

• Elaine dating a poor guy? Is she that desperate?

5) This was a grand opportunity to introduce an interesting charachter (the neighbor-- maybe someone who hates Jerry, Kramer AND Newman- someone who sees through their selfishness)- instead we get this really bland guy. BORING!

Ultimately, this episode shouldn't have happened. This belongs in the 20% or so of the episodes that are completely meaningless to the show as a whole- if this were the pilot I wouldn't watch the show again.

Well, it was better than the one at the dealership, but you're right--it was nowhere as inspired as the last two episodes. Kramer was too much a doofus and not enough hipster; he seems to have succeeded George as the one the writers use for jokes instead of character. The "poor" subplot with Elaine wasn't very grabbing (what did she see in him, anyway?) and the cufflinks idea was the Jon Voight car turned sideways.

The best part of the episode, as far as I was concerned, was the banter between Elaine and Jerry about a last meal before execution. Given what happened this week in Texas, maybe it rings a little truer. Not sure what Karla Faye ordered...

In baseball parlance, "The Strongbox" was a slow grounder to third base that moved the runner to second, avoided the double play, but did little more...

I agree! The broken buzzer was the best thing that could've happened to this show in a long time! It was actually about 'nothing', that part at least.

I know one of the people in tonight's episode! What did you think of George's girlfriend?
