The Bette Midler episode aired here in phoenix on sat. night( which I watched because the other two comedy shows on sat night reaaaallly bite.) This episode in my opinion is one if not theeeee WORST of all the Seinfeld episodes. (Except for the one scene where George's father busts the korean ladies.)
Kramer was in the antagonistic psycho- mode the entire show and the crying girl was dumb.
Does anyone like Bette and find the episode amusing????
the parts where Kramer shrieked like a woman every time someone mentioned Bette was enough for me. Pure hilarity!

I agree - I enjoyed Kramer's squealing. Another feature of this episode was that itintroduced J. Peterman, who is an amusing character and put Elaine into her new job.
Bette was okay, but the aspiring understudy, to whom you refer as "the crying girl" was vintage Seinfeld. In case you didn't quite get it, the whole show was was a jab at Tonya Harding's blind ambition.

I thought this show was extremely funny. Especially all the references to Tanya Harding. If you have any doubt's about the allusions, the scene in the cab where Jerry mentions people yelling Gillooly (sp) at him and the boot lace scene at the end should have clinched it. They were less than subtle.
I agree about Kramer. The Kramer scenes I hate are the one where he thinks he's the boss of everyone. He does this in 'The Chapperone', too.

i have almost every seinfeld episode on tape and i have to say that the bette midler episode is the worst episode ever! There are some episodes that i just coast through because they are not extremely good, but i can not even start to watch that one. does anyone else agree? i am looking forward to a whole hour of seinfeld on thursday. i have got my vcr ready!
Seinfeld until the Bette Midler episode. After that, we were hooked.
In retrospect there have been better episodes, but this one was pretty good (IMO).
I found it rather funny when George ran her over and Kramers big speeches about the whole incident.

You're not the only one who was hooked after that show. I also had never watched Seifeld until the "Understudy" show with Bette. If it wasn't for that show, I would have never discovered this program. And it wouldn't surprise me if there weren't other Bette Midler fans who had the same experience.
