Today 11-18-2002 is the 10th anniversary of The Contest. Two minutes into that episode, I knew it would go down as the all time classic Seinfeld episode.

I love the way TV Guide skirts around the wording of what's really happening:

"Thanks to George, his mother lands in the hospital" and "It's a contest of self-denial[!] between Jerry, George, Kramer, and Elaine."

I guess they can't really come out and say: "Thanks to George failing to come to her rescue after beating off to her Glamour magazine, George's mother lands in the hospital", or "It's a contest of seeing who can go the longest without masturbating." Now that kind of honesty would be refreshing. I guess they don't want to spoil any surprises.
