The general tone of the responses to last night's premiere is pretty negative. I thought it had some pretty good high- lights, Newman's carnivorous lust for Kramer and George's slow speed electric cart chase for instances, but it didn't have the low key laughs that the better Seinfelds have. Anyway, I thought it was a big improvement over last year's opener( The Foundation was it?).
It seems to me that typically Seinfeld season premieres are relatively weak and that the show hits full stride mid to late season. Have any of the best episodes been season premieres? I think most classic Seinfelds have appeared well into the season.
The only exception I can think of is the faked orgasm episode. "I hate that Meryl Streep, she's such a phoney." (paraphrased of course).
Any thoughts?
