A friend and I have a lucrative bet based on the outcome of the question: who won the masturbation contest? I say it was George, and he says it was Jerry.

Allow me to be a bit of a pedant. The contest was not a "masturbation contest"; it was more of a CONTROL contest. If it were a contest such as you describe, we are led to believe that Kramer would have won.
Jerry to Kramer: "You'll be out before the check arrives."
As to your question of who won, the jury is still out. Though, there is a reference made by George in the Puffy Shirt episode where he claims to have won a contest. This claim is made while he is being told how a HAND model abused his hand.

You are not the first to post such a response. But did you ever consider that George is lying? He'll say anything to make himself look good.
In the actual Contest episode, both Elaine & Kramer were shown getting a good night's sleep after caving. On the final night, *both* Jerry and George are shown sleeping soundly. The indication is that neither one of them is 'Master of their Domain' any longer.
If this is true, I doubt that whoever fell first immediately called the other to report what had happened. My conclusion: they both caved on the same night and had to split the money.
There have been some comments attributed to Larry David indicating that George won the contest, but that is not what is shown in the episode. They should have shown Jerry sleeping, while George stayed awake counting his money, or better yet, George turning a copy of Glamour face-down on his nightstand, so as not to be tempted!
Either way, this is not a bet with a clearly definitive answer.

It's also possible that George lied to win the contest (and, ergo, the money) in the eventual (off-screen) settlement of the bet. In which case, he may as well go around claiming the win, since the others took his word for it. I wouldn't put it past him at all.
The winner was GEORGE! When I went to a taping, I asked and that is what they told me.

Although we are not told directly told who wins, all clues point to George. At the end of the episode after Jerry is dumped by the Virgin, he shrugs his shoulders and heads for the window to look at the naked lady.....I think we can assume what he does then! Also in a later episode (the one where George becomes a hand model), he explains to his employer that he can keep his hands off himself by saying that he had "won a contest." Therefore I believe you won the bet!
