Let me start by saying that, as unoriginal a choice as it is, this episode wins my vote for best/favorite. Some further thoughts/questions:

Airing To the best of my knowledge this episode was only aired on the original broadcast date, November 18, 1992. I didn't catch it during the rerun period over the summer hiatus, and I'm reasonably sure I would have caught it if it aired, since I howled with laughter the first time I saw it and was hoping to tape it when it was aired again. I assumed it wasn't aired again because of the sensitive nature of the contest. Has anyone seen this episode in repeats? Will it be included in the syndication episodes? In countries that air the episodes on a delayed schedule, like Australia and New Zealand, did you get to see this episode? Any enlightening info would be much appreciated.

The Winner Although George claims he won the contest in "The Puffy Shirt," no other character has acknowledged that he's the winner. We never saw who got the money. I find it hard to believe that George would think the matter was settled without getting the money though. I recall in a "Rolling Stone" article (the issue with the cast on the cover) that Jerry and Jason talked about the contest and how it would be funny if George went on abstaining for a couple of seasons still thinking that the contest was going on. That article came out during the 92 season, I believe.

Does anybody have any relevant info or comments? Not knowing this ridiculous kind of stuff eats at me!

I'm pretty sure it was rerun. The first time it came on, I was trying to tape it but couldn't get the tape cued on time. I missed the first few minutes where George tells everyone about what happened. Later, they reran the episode and I got the whole thing. I have no idea as to the date, though.

Well I can't vouch for Australia but New Zealand actually saw the contest episode. I also thought it was damn funny. We haven't gone through any repeats as yet but when it does if it's played again I'll be recording it for sure. However due to the content of the show it was shown to us at a special time slot (later at night) so all the little kiddies didn't watch. I remember the day well we had the usual sienfeld at the usual time then another one about an hour later! Does anyone actually know how many series Seinfeld has been running? I fear I missed the first 1 1/2 due to "catching" on late. cya hayden

There was a later episode when Jerry and George notice someone listening to their conversation in the restaurant. They decide to have some fun with her and pretend they're gay. The woman turns out to be a reporter who is going to interview Jerry for an article.

The way all of this ties in is that the scene in the hospital (with the shadows on the curtain around the next bed) is played out again for George - with 2 guys! It's a riot!

Dishheads, dishheads, roly poly dishheads! Lick a toad, go to jail. See Spot run. See Spot Dick Jane.
