"The Gum" --- the Real Gum?

According to the syndication schedule posted by David Jacobson, "The Gum" episode will be airing again on Feb. 3rd.

This reminded me that I've seen what appears to be the gum in question being sold around NYC's East Village, which is very near my home. The gum comes in a red wrapper with Chinese writing on it, and it has what appears to be a picture of a ginseng root on the wrapper. No, I haven't tried it, nor do I plan to.

For those who have posted questions asking whether Bosco or Drake's Cakes are real products (which they are): apparently, even "The Gum" is a real product.

Has anyone tried it?

You described it well. Red wrapper with ginseng on it.

It has ginseng on it because it is ginseng gum. It has ginseng in it.

Ginseng doesn't taste that great so the gum also doesn't taste all that great. But it's not bad. I haven't had it in a while.

According to Jerry, it tastes "Lo Meiny," but it doesn't taste like that at all. It tastes a lot worse. I wouldn't even recommend you trying it.

Yes, Drake's is for real. Just bought a pack at the A&P on 6ths and 12th.

Ginseng, supposedly, is supposed to give you an energy boost. But I was eating 5 pieces of ginseng gum at a time and felt only a slight boost. It's awful too. A plastic like coating with grainy inside part which is the gum..........blahhhhhhh!
