It was when George's mother caught him masturbating to a Glamour magazine and he vowed that he would never masturbate again. When the gang didn't believe him, and Jerry said that he could for sure hold out longer than him, George asked if he'd care to make it interesting. That's how the contest was born. The first to cave had to pay $100. Elaine had to put up $150 because she was a woman and it "wasn't part of her lifestyle" according to Jerry. Whoever could hold out the longest, got the jackpot. It was based upon the honor system, and George claimed he won, but we found out on the last episode that he actually cheated and lied. The episode was very funny and I highly recommend getting it from somebody in this NG if you've never seen it.
