I remember some discussion last winter/spring about who actually won the contest - Jerry or George. George claiming victory on last night's episode confirms the fact that Jerry was not master of his domain.

Neither was George -- remember that, in the last scene of the Contest, we say *both* of them sleeping soundly (separately, of course -- NTTAWWT). I guess George just held out longer (did they compare times, I wonder...).
