George was out!

Sorry if this has been covered before, but in the Bette Midler episode, the ump says that George is safe at home as he crashes into Bette. Not only was he "tagged" (although she does drop the ball), but he never even touches home plate! :0

Sorry, didn't see all of that episode, but if she did drop the ball then George would be safe assuming he did eventually touch base (I assume he could have because Midler was incapacitated then wasn't she?) The catcher has to retain posession of the ball after contact at home.

And I thought this posting was going to be about the great "Who won The Contest?" debate. Because it's obvious after seeing the episode again tonight that it was purposely left ambiguous whether George or Jerry was out first.

True he says that, but his whole life is a lie. He may have just been saying that since he was in the contest and wanted to make a point; so went off that....... Possibly?

It was The Puffy Shirt episode when George is interviewing for a job as a hand model. I don't remember the exact details but the employer stated that the last time he saw a pair of hands that were that nice were on a professional hand model who eventually ruined his hands by doing "you know", as George puts it, too often. Then George pipes up with "You don't have to worry about me! I won a contest!"

It's the episode where George gets hired as a hand model. The people who hire him are concerned that he might damage his hands if he...gives in to temptation. This is when he mentions that he "won a contest."

GIVEN: When he's a hand model, George tells his boss that 'you don't have to worry about that with me. I won a contest.'

Two possibilities suggest themselves:

1) The next morning, when George and Jerry first meet, Jerry would probably be the first one to mention that he's out, and George is just enough of a dishonorable guy that he would keep his mouth shut and collect the money.

2) If they agree it was a tie, then George is walking out of there with a hundred and twenty-five dollars, and for George, that's enough to make him feel like a winner.

As far as which of Jerry and George won the contest,

I think that after he loses the virgin, Jerry shrugs off the contest and heads to the window to cave in. (He does seem to have a what the hell attitude at that point). I then presume that Jerry and George settle it off camera, leaving George as the winner, although they deliberately keep it from the viewer until the hand-modelling job.

That's how I see it, anyway if George says he won the contest, he surely can't be lying! ;)

the hand model.  he was replacing a guy who wasn't in control of him
slef.  becase the other guy's hand "was frozen in a twisted claw, he
tried threapy, but it didn't help"
