Unless I lapsed into a forty-second coma when the reasons for this were revelaed, why was Elaine calling the passenger to her left "Vegetable Lasagna"? I mean, it was funny when she was talking to Jerry on the phone and answered "That's 'Vegetable Lasagna'" when Jerry asked, "Who is that?" but I couldn't figure out the basis of the nickname.

I am fairly certain it was because of what he ate. (those little vegetarian/kosher etc meals....special order ones you can get) I loved the way Elaine said it once agitated! "Veg-TABLE La-SAG-NA!!!" What a great episode...

I can't remeber if they explained it or not, but I'm guessing that he ordered vegtable lasagna for dinner on the plane.

It seems to me that Elaine and David were 'dehumanizing' the poor guy by simply referring to him as what he had for dinner. As if he's not even important enough to have a real name. At another point, Elaine denigrated him within earshot. What surprised me was how meek he was. I think he was from Norway. Is this a stereotype? When he got in the cab and saw Elaine he was immediately apologetic. Are Norwegians really this mild?
