No, The Beavers real name was Theodore. Wally could not pronounce it when he was little and it came out Beaver. Guess I watched a little too much TBS when I was younger.

In the opening credits of the show the announcer says, "And Jerry Mathers as the Beaver." Also, any time the other family members talk about him he is called either the Beaver of the Beav. BTW, the Beavathon a few weeks ago was cool! They showed lots of episodes where the Beav was having girl problems.

I think it was Wally who actually quoted Mrs Clever's conversation to Mr. Clever when the term "the beaver" actually originated, "Ward, Wern't you a little hard on the beaver last night?" btw, beavis is a conj of the words beaver and penis thanx }:~>
