Got the icons, finally. I'm not sure how, but after shutting down my Mac and then restarting (the next day) the icons appeared in the folder. I've been using ResEdit to edit a couple of them (I suppose there are other programs for this) but otherwise they downloaded just fine.
BTW, for Deacon, the ftp site is: beavis.cba.uiuc.edu just look in the mac dir, I believe the file is bnbicons.hqx
