Well, all you B&B fans, it's time to face the facts:the show that I once loved has been sucking serious balls for since the beginning of the second season. Before I am inundated with a chorus of "This guy sucks!", let me say that I was a fan from the beginning when the show was a short on "Liquid Television". What was then a great alternative cartoon has become a travesty by diving head first into the mainstream. Of course, the most notable contribution to the show's downfall has been the toning down of the characters and their antics. No longer are they the animal maiming, paint thinner sniffing teenage hooligans that they once were. They have resigned themselves to doing stand-up comedy at clubs and invading nudist camps. Ah, for the days of the Roman god Sterculius! Secondly, the new, professional look of the show. Due to the show's popularity, a staff of cartoonists was hired. What so many of the show's original fans loved was the grainy, low quality animation. The show has also declined in the aspect of that it has gone from showing videos by White Zombie, Danzig, etc. to showing the videos of Aerosmith and other bands that are shown on MTV already. What make the phenomenon worse is the fact the the pair comment on how cool the new videos are. They have become advertising for MTV. And last, the most annoying aspect of the show, is the plethora of mindless fans who incessantly laugh during the duration of the show, and when the show is over, they don't let it end, with their continual "Heh-heh, mmm, that's cool, fire fire!, uh shut up", etc. In conclusion, I long for a return to the days of it being a uncensored short on "Liquid Television". The showing of the videos during the show has always been a source of irritation for us original fans of the cartoon. And we bitch-slap those who dare to utter a "Heh-heh" or a "That's cool".

If you saw Beavis and Butthead on Liquid Television, that must mean that you actually watch MTV. It's common knowledge that MTV sucks, and has sucked for a long time. Liquid Television sucks. You suck. If the show were called Beavis and Jorge, it would go something like this:
Jorge: Do you remember when MTV was cool? BH: Uh, no. You actually watched MTV. You wuss.
People who claim fandom since LTV aren't saying much because BnBH was in existence well before they "debuted" on that show. I used to watch LTV quite a bit, back when episodes could be expected to have new material in them, because let's face it, it was really the only show to feature "new" styles of animation. Of course, if they would have left out Dog Boy, the show's level of acceptance may have gone up a bit. :)
Why are some dorks so proud that they are fans of Beavis and Butthead now that they are completely mainstream? I think that is a much better question than the one you posed. It's a bit of a Catch 22. You become interested in something when it's small and unnoticed. You really do want to see more of it, but realize that without some major backing, it's gonna disappear. Then, oh ho, the mainstream grabs it and it takes off... and everything changes. I hate the hypocrisy of Mtv, but sometimes, there is a gem or two to be found in the refuse. Unfortunately, BnBH seems to have gone from being a diamond to being cubic zirconium. They have a book, they have an album... These are the symbols of anti-societal movement (or lack thereof)? No, these are walking commercials. White Zombie is now billed as the band that was number one on the list of Beavis and Butthead's "Bands that don't suck." Personally, if I were an artist, I wouldn't walk around with my head held high saying, "Yeah, if it weren't for that cartoon, we'd be outta business."
I happen to enjoy alternative animation quite a bit. But, when the alternative becomes the norm, it loses its edge, it loses that which made it alternative in the first place. I only hope that anime doesn't become too mainstream, otherwise the marketplace will be inundated with really crappy dubbed versions just to please a bunch of weinies who can't handle reading subtitles.
So, to wrap up this message (which has been pogo-sticking from subject to subject), Beavis and Butthead are pretty much headed for an early grave. They'll hang on for quite some time (hey, the Simpson's are still on...), but the ride won't be nearly as much fun.

Absolutely friggin' right! If I have to hear one more person say "Uh... heh heh huh uh huh huh huh That was cool!", I think I'm gonna hospitalize him. I enjoy the show as much as the next guy, but it has gone downhill fast and the moronic following it seems to be cultivating is really a pain in the ass. I work for a corporation that manufactures capillary chromatography equipment (namely columns, septa, et cetera), but there are at least three people there who walk around quoting BnBH. Of course, I was nice enough to install samples and pics on their Windows stations, as they have seen it set up on mine and haven't left me alone since, but I've never been guilty of trying to pull off some completely idiotic impression of BnBH... It just doesn't make sense to me.
The question here is why? Why try to imitate BnBH? What's the point?? This one should be pretty quickly answered since about 20 messages a day pop up in here with text imitations. :)
Now watch, as my question to why anyone would want to imitate BnBH is answered by imitations of BnBH... :)

Not to get off the subject -- god knows how this group talks about our heroes, Beavis and Butthead, as much as mtv show videos -- but I must disagree about the Simpsons not changing. Just look at them when they appeared on the Tracy Ullman show in between skits. Not only is the animation style much different, but the characters also have different personalities.

Is this a "religious issue" or something?
All I can say for myself is that the only episode this season that I found even the least but funny was the "sex education" episode. That one had me rolling on the floor. Nothing on SNL has done that to me for at least three seasons. That one episode validated the whole season as far as I'm concerned.
Also, I happen to *like* many of the videos that are shown/promoted on the show. I'l glad I'm not the only person who thinks Belly "sucks", and wishes a tree would fall in the woods and just kill all of them (and it wouldn't make a sound, cuz they suck).
Also, they do show some "classic" videos on B&B that MTV never bothers to play anymore (although I *don't* think "Oh Mickey" by Toni Basil sucked in the least). And some of the "alternative" video's ("college music sucks") that get played on B&B are allright, especially when you consider how much "120 Minutes" really *does* suck ever since Dave Kendall left...
