The alt.tv.beavis-n-butthead FAQ v1.0 2.11.96

alt.tv.beavis-n-butthead is a discussion group for the televison show Beavis & Butt-Head. All posts are to somehow relate to this program or it's themes. Crossposting is not recommended. Should you see a post with other newsgroups in the 'To:' field please alter this field if you intend on posting a response--otherwise your response will also be cross-posted to all those groups as well...wasting a ton of bandwidth...and other people's time.

Q1> Can I post a binary file to alt.tv.beavis-n-butthead?? There's this really cool picture I want the world to see!!

A1> No. Post it to a newsgroup with 'binary' in the title. If you must post a note telling us to check out your post on that newsgroup...The best thing to do is set up a web page (you can learn how in less than a day) and put all the pictures you want there and let people know about it...

Q2> Why not??

A2> Because many people do not have a newsreader that can decode pictures and the file, no matter how small, takes up a large amount of time/space/memory to download compared to the usual text post. In short, it's just rude...

Anyone want to either take this over or maintain it??

Look palooka, I don't know what the hell you're talking about...I never made claims that anyone was 'stealing' the episode guide. I have always stated that my guide is culled from fans across the net and have given every person that has contributed anything to it credit. Further, I have always asked for help when I need it...and apologized when I haven't kept up on maintaining it... I really don't think that I've ever been overly proprietary about this guide except for the sole purpose of making it easier to control the 'out of date' versions that tend to float around...all for the sake of ensuring accurate information gets put into something I've (and others) have worked hard on. And speaking of being a dumbass, this was an attempt to make a FAQ file for the newsgroup...not for Beavis & Butt-Head in general. Chris' faq is way too excellent for competition. I'm suggesting that we have a weekly FAQ for this group that covers many of the things-not-to-do-or-ask that lately have grown astronomically on this group: i.e. posting binaries, 'where are some web site' questions, crossposting...etc. Other newsgroups have them, don't see why we shouldn't... Sorry, don't really think I deserved that at all...

I think that Dan is in the right here. Chris' FAQ is about the show. I think Sir Ass-Kicker was one of the first to point out that the group needs a FAQ too. I would agree with that.

FWIW, I don't think you did, either. But Scot has been in the front lines helping keep this newsgroup safe for idiocy as an active member of atbnbsf <tm>, of which I am the chaplain... and founder. Interestingly, Scot holds membership card #2: I believe he deserves some slack too.

I would be interested in contributing to an atbnb FAQ myself: I'd like to
