How to save B&BH

I have a grandious plan to save our heroes from the horrors of censorship! Unless you are a complete dumbass you know all about what is going on. If you are a complete dumbass I would suggest that you read post 1817, Adam does a good job of explaining things. Someone else pointed out that MTV has us over a barrel because we are still going to watch Beavis and Butthead even with the censorship. While this is true, there is still something we can do. Eric Mallett posted MTVs address which I am reposting here:

We need to all write to MTV and tell them that while we will still be watching Beavis and Butthead, we will not be buying any products advertised on it until they stop this stupid censorship. Copies of the letters must also be mailed to all the advertisers who have commercials during B&BH. These people are not stupid, both sides know that many people watch B&BH. Most likely, the advertisers will threaten to pull their commercials if something is not changed. I suggest that the letters state something to the effect of removing the showing at 7pm and stopping this crazy censorship. It might even be possible for someone to post a form letter that you can download and print.

Will, what do you think? This can only work if we all do it.

That is a *good idea*. Consumer pressure is a POWERFUL force. As for a form letter, how about something like this:

To whom it may concern:

I have followed the recent events concerning the mention of fire on "Beavis and Butthead" and the tragic death of a young girl due to her brother's experimentation with fire.

I am disgusted by the decision to censor "Beavis and Butthead" by removing all references to the word "fire". This is ridiculous. Will you also remove all videos which show fire, sex, drugs, etc.?

Television can not be blamed for parents' irresponsibility. If a five year old child is allowed to watch television unsupervised, then that child is going to see things which are not appropriate for his/her age. The assumption that all cartoons are "kiddie shows" is wrong.

I will continue to watch "Beavis and Butthead". However, I will make a point of not buying any product advertised immediately before, during, or immediately after the show. I am sending a copy of this letter to major advertisers as well.

I will make a suggestion: Remove "Beavis and Butthead" from it's 7:00pm time slot. Leave the 11:00pm and subsequent later showings intact and uncut, so that adults can continue to enjoy a perfectly good comedy.
