How do we get them to run, or better yet how can I copy them to my directory?

Type ftp vela.acs.oakland.edu
The system will say something like "annonomous ftp OK" and ask you to "logon" at that point just type ftp
It will then ask for a password. Enter YOUR REAL INTERNET ID mine is [email]
You will then be in the root directory. Type cd pub
Then type cd sound
You finally type cd beevis
You are now in the directory pub/sound/beevis. Type ls
You will get a listing of all the files in the directory. Pick one you want... example "laugh.wav" you would type get laugh.wav
By the miracle of the net, the file "laugh.wav" will be copied to YOUR system. Just keep selecting and getting the files you want. Then type quit
You will be back home. Type ls
You will see the files you selected in your home directory. Use whatever download command your system supports to get them to your PC.
