Make a "banned episodes" video

Well, I'm kinda new to this group (used to lurk here a bit), so sorry in advance if this topic has been covered ad infinitum...

Why doesn't MTV put out a video compilation of the banned episodes? It would give all of us latecomers (huh huh huh huh huh - he said "comers") a chance to see these gems (someone told me I need to see "Way Down Old Mexico Way"). They'd make a lot of money. If they don't have the guts to do it themselves, they should license them out to someone else.

Censorship sucks, and the MTV legal department must be a bunch of wussies. The idea that they might edit/ban current episodes (like the one with Mrs. DoubtFIRE) just makes me angry. They banished them to 11 p.m. for crying out loud! Give us a break! We're all adults here!

I don't see how MTV could EVER put out B&B episodes on video! Seems like it would be too, uh, complicated to get all the clearances for the video clips. At best, I can see them doing some sort of video compilation along the lines of that album that came out a while back. Maybe some enterprising young bootlegger out there has the "banned" episodes???

Heh. It won't be free, that's for sure. And these MTV lawyers we keep calling wussies would suddenly seem like a pack of snarling beasts.

I have a better idea. Let's trash the copyright laws. From now on, everyone can copy and sell anything they want. The most money goes to the best marketer. It may seem hard on the artists (it may seem *what* the artists?) but you'd sure see prices on media come down in a BIG hurry.

The copyright laws also keep artists from using a whole host of sounds, images and ideas to comment on the nature of art, media and society. I think they hurt artists more than help. Who really loves copyrights is big business. So, forget I said anything. Sorry.
