WAY DOWN MEXICO WAY

HEY!!

This is the deal:

	My friend and fellow B&BH fan kept telling me about an episode
(THAT I HAD APPARENTLY NOT SEEN!!) in which B&BH were in Mexico looking
for M80s, etc.....Well, this was a few months ago, and shortly thereafter
I saw WAY DOWN MEXICO WAY, but didn't think it was the episode he mentioned,
because he had mentioned something about a pin~ata...and BH smacking some
poor kid...and drug smuggling (!)....which were *not* in the episode I
saw.
	Since the one I saw ended without them returning to the states,
I figured his was kindof a sequel to WDMW, but today (he just got back in
town, he was gone for the summer) we were watching WDMW...and
he said this was the episode he saw!

...So....am I to believe that the episode was censored??
	(Which I suppose would make sense....there's probably folx out
		there who would not like seeing B&BH beat people and smuggle
		drugs....LAUGH)

I think the original episode was a full half-hour long, and MTV's too stupid to realize it, so they only show the first half as a fifteen- minute short. I saw them do this once with "Sex Education" - they ended the show with the scene of the principal's office before the "no laughing" punishment was even given. No Mr. Buzzcut at all. I was pissed.

I've said it before, I'll say it again - MTV SUCKS!!!!!!!

Another instance of this occured one evening as I watched the beginning of the episode where they buy animals and the first half of No Laughing. Fortunately, MTV showed the second half combined with The Butthead Experience the following half hour.

I believe the split episodes I recorded occurred in the week before the moronathon.

Way Down Mexico Way is a two parter. The drug smuggling, kid smacking stuff happens in the 2nd part. Did you notice that at the end it says "To be continued..." On another show, the 2nd half is shown as the starter. On yet another show, both parts of Way Down Mexico Way are shown.

And PLEASE no followups with "Huh huh, he said _______"!!! AAARGH!!!

Actually, that's not the only episode that MTV's hacked away at. If you remember, at the beginning of Aerosmith's "Living on the Edge" video, where Steve Tyler's standing naked and half blacked out, Butthead said "Where's his penis?". MTV snipped that out. Also, when they're watching that Grim Reaper video "See You In Hell", and they talk about the group playing in the state fair, Butthead says something about a pig that had large 'nads that hung down real low, and Beavis says something like "I thought you were talking about the bass player!".

Kind of ironic that MTV, for all its railing against censorship, does more censoring itself than any network out here. (Look at Dr. Dre's "Nuthin' but a G Thang" and "Dre Day" videos for example.

Gee, believe it or not, I'm gonna complain about MTV here. I don't know how much those videos are chopped up lyrically, but most of the visual censorship going on in those videos is economically motivated. Those blurred patches over everyone's hats and shirts cover corporate logos (Nike, Reebok, whoever) who have not paid any sort of fee to MTV for the "free advertising." They do the same thing in the latest Blind Melon video to an advertisement appearing on a bus-stop bench. I guess censorship is only bad if it doesn't cost MTV ad revenue.

I believe Michael was referring to the "fuzzing" of the pot leaf/blunt images on caps, shirts, etc. I'm surprised they haven't spelled Dre's album title with *'s (Chr*nic). It's kinda funny how the Black Crows didn't seem to catch as much flack as Dre, et al over their pro-pot stance.

BTW, if you want to see the "unexpurgated" versions of Dr. Dre's videos, watch BET's "Video Soul" or "Rap City". BET's not quite as prudish as MTV (MTV prudish? Did I just say that?)

Don't forget about the cuttin out of words too. A good example is either Dre Day by Dr. Dre or Check Yo' Self by Ice Cube. Tons o' words gettin cut out. I don't watch MTV unless B&B are on. Either BET(but they play some wack shit on Rap City and Video Soul) or Video Jukebox.

They still remark the same bit in Loverboy's "Working for the Weekend," and as far as I know it has not been edited.

You're right. I got the two confused. That line wasn't cut from the "See you in Hell" bit since it wasn't in that bit in the first place. It was in the "Working for the Weekend" bit. The state fair references in both videos threw me off.
