Following up on the posts about the origin of the Jerky Boys, both the Jerky Boys and Bart Simpson's prank calls have their origin in "The Tube Bar Tapes", produced in the early 80's. The pranksters would call a bar in new York called the Tube Bar, and ask for basically the same people Bart asked for. The owner, an old man named Red, who sounded like he gargled with broken glass, would call for the fake name (Al Coholic, etc...) then realize what he just did, and curse out and threaten the caller.
