Suicide of Wendy Williams

Did anybody see the news of the suicide of Wendy Williams, leader of the band the Plasmatics? For the last few years, she has lived near me in rural Connecticut.

Hardcore B&B fans will remember that it was during a Plasmatics video in the original (unedited) version of Scared Straight when Beavis first yells Fire! Fire! Fire! That was the episode which allegedly caused a 5 year old in Ohio to burn his house down, which led to MTV editing the old episodes. In that video, Wendy crashes a school bus into a wall of TV sets, causing the bus to explode in a ball of fire. Butt-head says something like, "If this happened on the bus every day, I'd go to school more often."

Briefly, she was despondent over a breakup with a man she'd recently been having a relationship with, and over failing to get a part she hoped for in a Fox production. On the day of her death she bought flowers, dropped off a wounded baby squirrel she'd been caring for, baked a pie, left notes of instructions, and went out and shot herself.
