Well as Butt-Head so elegantly put it in "Do America", this show "sucks more than anything that has sucked before." I was only able to catch the first 10 minutes, put that was enough for me. Did anyone find ANY kind of humor in this show? I wrote a few weeks back that I thought this show was going to suck, but I never expected how bad it actually would.
I give it 4 weeks.

(Bored sigh.) It's a smart girl thing, Beavis. I've only seen the episode where Daria and her new friend are forced to go to self-esteem class, but I thought it was really sly and subtly funny. Love the digs on the annoying fluffchick sister and Yuppie Drone parents.
Unfortunately, while "Beavis and Butthead" mixes complex humor (i.e. the ridiculousness of VanDriessen's political correctness) with wackiness that even a 5-year-old could understand ("I need TP for my bunghole!"), "Daria" deals solely in the "complex humor" department.
I like Beavis and Butthead much more for its clever digs against society (as seen through the eyes of two very ignorant teenagers) than for its sometimes-too-frequent over-juvenille humor. Beavis "freaking out" can be entertaining, but it's not nearly as good as watching the overblown (but many times too true) stereotypes of the various personalities in Highland.
My conclusion: "Daria", despite being a very clever and good show, is not going to make it, because most of MTV's audience is stupid. If you doubt this, watch "Singled Out", "The Real World", and "Road Rules", and then tell me with a straight face that MTV caters to the intelligent sector of the young population.

Actually, I just saw the second episode, and it wasn't as good as the first.
I think that the show's biggest problem is the unenthusiastic acting. Part of the appeal of Beavis and Butthead is that -- despite the ridiculousness of some characters -- they're all acted out to be very real.

Watching Beavis and Butt-head or Ren and Stimpy does not indicate stupidity. A good friend of mine is extremely smart -- she LOVES R&S, and lots of other anime. She watches it to give her brain a rest -- her job is stressful and taxing.

I can't stand "Singled Out" because it's the biggest bunch of hedonistic, superficial, moronic trash I've ever seen on TV. Carmen Electra isn't much brighter than Jenny McCarthy (who I'm convinced would lose an IQ contest with my cat). If you look at it, Jenny has a dream job -- she gets paid very well for being a vacuous, ditzy, airheaded blonde -- right out of the stereotypes.
P.S. 150 -- and I was teased as a child for my being smart...
