I have to disagree.... I couldn't swear to it....and you may be the expert on this subject, but I do believe that the Dirk Diggler character was loosely based on John Holmes.....but whatever.....maybe so maybe not. You guys will argue about anything won't you? I've attempted to share a bit of the earliest of Mike Judge's work with you all......maybe some of you already have it, but guess what, maybe some of the readers here don't and have never had the chance to see it....... I don't claim that I'm the biggest, best, or most knowledgeable fan - just happen to save the episodes and wished to share 'em. Copyright infringement? Maybe, but I'd have to say that Mr. Judge would probably be honored more than anything to have someone go through the trouble to make an attempt at sharing an original run of his earliest work.......I've lived in Austin and got the feeling that he's really not the kind of person to despise someone that digs his work..... (funny shit, they had a Hank Hill day in Austin with lawnmower races and all.....I had fuck'n MCSE tests and couldn't make it....)

Just a personal quirk of mine about copyright law. I remind you that Mike Judge got royally reamed by the contract for Frog Baseball which basically left him without any control of the rights to BnB. He later re-nad-gotiated, but I wonder how it would have worked-out if Mike Judge and had a better handle on how his property was developed. It might still be on the air today. Then again, it might not have ever gotten off the ground.

Probably not. But his lawers and Viacom/MTV which owns the rights might be another story.

Much the same could be said about you. You have no idea of the history and legacy of this group and saunter-in and expect people to say what a huge contribution you make to the group by posting a couple AVIs etc. I have literally 100s of megabytes of contributions saved from this group and that's just TEXT, not video or wav files.

Maybe we don't write in here very much any more, but we're still around. If you lose that attitude, and play nice with Scot and some of the other folk and abide by the rules, maybe we'll post something cool here and there. But if you behave like a lamer and insult us, we'll just stay underground, since there's nothing in it for us.

Sure, I could "contribute" by posting all of the epichoads in any video format you want, I have the hardware and the software to do it. But there is no point in doing so. Most anyone who is a fan has everything on tape and has bought all of the compilations and more. If not, they can get them in a much more usable format like DVD or video tape.

You just don't get it. We aren't upset that someone came along who wasn't part of Buttland and made a "contribution". Many of us were newbies like yourself who made some real contributions and eventually became part of the group.

We're upset that you think you are doing the world some huge favor by taking a big electronic dump in this newsgroup. And then when we call you on that and say it's not cool, you get all huffy and insult us.

I'd have to say that, yes, I do believe making the first ever episodes of BnB and Inbred Jed available for others to see a contribution...... If you've got something better.....then let's see it. (admittedly, I've only looked on a couple of the official Liquid Television tapes) Yes, I am quite proud to have saved the first running....and I only recently got the hardware to make it possible to share something that I felt was not only a great contribution to this newsgroup, but all the newsgroups who may be interested in this piece of pop culture history. Take a look at the other newsgroups......not a single derogative post as a result of doing so. I would also admit that I regret having shared it with the majority of you..... funny though..... even some of the people in here who run their head the most have downloaded the episodes (they actually used the same member names).
