How the South Park movie could have made more money

Let's face it; people are drones. They flock to see anything that's heavilly hyped, with endless Burger King and other merchandising tie-ins. Suppose Wild Wild West had no publicity other than standard newspaper ads, movie theater trailers, and a few rarely-aired TV spots, and South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut had a bombardment of publicity, it is probable that Wild, Wild West might have barely broken even at the box offfice, while SP:BL&U would be a smash, continuing to play in packed theaters six months after its release.

I think the public is kind of stupid. I thought Eddie Murphy's "The Distinguished Gentleman" (a box office flop) was a much funnier movie than "The Nutty Professor" (a box office smash).

Easy one...they could have made it a PG13 movie instead of the great movie that they did make. Of course then almost everyone on this list would be pissed off. But a PG13 movie could be done...they could stay away from "ADULT" subjects and the kids could do some funny "KIDS HUMOR" like play with firecrackers and make fun of Mr. Mackey mmmkay

The whole hububaloo about South Park being R and almost getting NC-17 still pisses me off beyond belief. Even more so after rentin 8MM at Blockbuster last night. While it was interesting, there were ALOT of visuals in that movie that should have garnered an NC-17 rating. The next time Matt and Trey talk about the rating system, they should use that flick as an example also.

If they had left out all that shit with saddam and Satan being gay lovers and all, it might could've gotten a pg 13.

Matt and Trey are artists. I think that their best work would be a movie that would be completely untouched by the damned MPAA, where they could really let the characters do their thing. Maybe some people wouldn't find it funny, but the SP purists who see the show for what it is would. Besides, who wouldn't want to see more of the bookmobile driver, my favorite character who hasn't returned? However, they did mention him at the beginning of the movie. If you look at the headlines on the paper that Stan's dad is reading, it states, "Bookmobile driver released."

True, and if Richard Pryor did Henny Youngman material, his concert movies might could've all gotten G ratings.

In either case, it's a moot point. SP:BL&U and Richard Pryor's standup comedy are both best left as is.
