Think about it, all you pigfuckers who think it was some alien (or
aliens) reference. Why would Matt/Trey include some parody of an
unmemorable line from a 15-20 year old movie? What would that accomplish.
Since alien was directly mentioned in the movie, it's not a parody. A
parody can only be accomplished when people recall what is being parodied on
their own. Without the alien movie in the show, how many people would have
said, "Oh, that's a parody of a line in alien! Ha ha ha ha! I laugh."
On the other hand, TPM is a current movie which virtually everyone has
seen at least once. Meanwhile, Matt and Trey hated the Phantom Menace, have
made fun of it numerous times recently, and thought Anakin was a whiny
bastard. Cartman IS a whiny bastard. Now, which reference makes more sense
to you???
you answered your own question. Obviously the Alien reference makes more sense since Cartman was watching the movie on tv and heard that line which he was repeating. He definitely wasn't watching TPM. Besides, not every joke will be understood by everyone. You simply didn't get it. Had you been old enough to remember Aliens, you'd have caught the reference like the rest of us.
I taped it off my friends laser disc. It has all kinds of extra footage with Newt and her parents. Lots of cool extras. I think you can only get it on laserdisc...or most likely dvd.
It was most definitely an ALIENS reference............mostly.
2) ALIENS Special Edition is available on Laserdisc and just recently released on DVD, it runs 154 minutes total (the "Three Hour" cut is shown on the SciFi Channel from time to time and it is the SAME 154 minute Special Edition as the LD & DVD but it is spread to 3 hours to accommodate those goddamn commercials!)
3) The "Shelly vs. Cartman" episode was moderate IMO, I was not that impressed with the babysitting storyline (the "turd" thing DID get real old real fast, though I LOVED the Atomic Wedgies!) I was more impressed and amused by the Kitty in heat storyline........I think Matt & Trey just wanted a way to show lions fucking onscreen more than anything else! ("Notice the male's swollen balls.") Oh, and when was Kitty ever referred to as "Mr. Kitty".......AFAIK *she* has always just been "Kitty" or "Bad Kitty This Is MY Pot Pie"........!?!?!???
4) On the WebTVers issue, just my .02¢......I would not say *most* of us are idiots......sure *some* are, so are *some* AOLers and yada yada yada....... The fact is, we (WebTVers) now have a Remove Signature option for posting and emailing. The fancy signatures are a way for WebTVers to express their "Artistic Talents" (or lack thereof) and many take advantage of it.....not realizing of course that most 'puter users don't appreciate it and that it is NOT WELCOME in non-WebTV newsgroups. I always turn off my sig when posting or emailing those w/'puters that have a problem with it, but there are just some WebTVers who are just clueless. I'm not saying they shouldn't be chastised, but don't automatically assume that ALL WebTVers are as ignorant as those that don't know it!

There is NO 3 hour cut.. the LD he talks about is the SAME as DVD, at about 2:30.. 154 if I remember correctly.. and who ever is saying.. Star Wars? SHUT UP! JEEEZUS.. I was SIX when Aliens came out and I recognize that from Aliens.. sheesh..

Obviously, unless you had a problem comprehending the scene, the fact that it was a SPECIFIC and DIRECT reference to "Aliens" makes much more sense than some contrived atrtempt at tying it in to a different movie.
