Next time Cartman pull shis "Na-na-na" bullshit, one of the other kids should pull out a lead pipe and "BASH IN HIS PATE!!!" Or "KNOCK A NAIL INTO HIS HEAD!!!"

(These ideas are from Caliban in "The Tempest.")

Now on the Porter-Niekum menu: FRENCH fries (from Idaho probably) FRENCH-roast coffee (from South America most likely) FRENCH'S mustard (pretty lame-n-tame but WTF)

You haven't heard about the laughable efforts by some American authorities to try to change "French Fries" and "French Toast" to "Freedom Fries" etc. because of France's refusal to join the war? Where have you been the last month?

You lot in the US are SO lucky not to have France next door. I've been there a few times. Have you been there ? - don't go.

Seriously.

They don't speak. They grunt. The streets are awash with dog shit. Literally several turds per square foot. Women frequent men's urinals.

Here in the UK we don't have "French" anything.

"me lot in the US" is actually from Germany, so I'm even closer to France than you...

Reading your post, I wonder what forced you there, especially several times. :-)

After the first time, a sense of thinking that it really couldn't be as bad as I remembered.

Only to find it was......

Sad but true.

Actually, the effort to change Fries to Freedom Fries was spearheaded by a restaurant. Apparently several resaurants across the country are now selling Freedom Fries. The only thing any American "authorities" did was when the US Senate re-named them Freedom Fries in the Senate cafeteria. The change was irrellevant anyway because most people simply refer to fried potatoes as "fries" anyway.

Thanks for the clarification. I knew about the Senate cafeteria, but I seemed to recall that a Senator or a member of Congress first made the suggestion. I stand corrected.

BTW: Our student bar is currently selling "Friedens-Fritten" - German for "Peace Fries" - as a counterjoke.

Ah, I didn't know that. Cool. Funny side note: The "Made in Germany" seal (which people came to see as a sign of quality - unfortunately not true any more, but I digress) was originally intended as a punishment: a warning lable that would tell people around the world that they'd be buying from the bad guys. I can't remember if it was established after WW1 or 2 though.

Uli

Possibly after WWI, cause from what my professor was telling us, WWI completely blitzed the German economy, no one was buying, no one was probably producing either.

I find it funny that the pink triangles that some lesbians consider a pride thing was actually used to ID homosexuals during Hitler's reign.

I thought I'd heard that someplace else, and it was confirmed in class. KyleIke13~ The chick obsessed with Matt Stone =) Tree Huggin' Hippie Crap!

True, but that wasn't an accident, that was a deliberate reclaiming of a symbol by the gay community. Much like black people calling each other nigger or (to a lesser extent) role playing gamers and computer fans referring to themselves as nerds. You take possession of a label and apply it to yourself, thus robbing it of its power to inflict damage.

Now if I could just figure out who the idiot was that did it the other way round and started turning "gay" into a synonym for lame or bad...

pride

Its actually "nigga." No kidding, I saw Two Pack Shaker (Tupac Shakur) on MTV using that argument to justify why it is okay for black people to use that word, but not for others to use it. Because when black peole use it, it ends in "a." I personally find the word detestable, and there should be no justification for using it.....unless its funny (like when Dave Chappelle or Mel Brooks say it.)

or (to a lesser extent) role playing gamers and computer fans

Yeah that guy was totally gay.

Is there any good copies of those pre-south park episodes floating around? The ones I have looks like shit. I wish they'd officially release them.

Also, is that "history of america" that's shown in the BCC documentary anywhere to d/l ?
