Another Say Anything reference?

Okay, the boombox thing was an obvious reference but did anyone else notice the similarities between Stan's first encounter with the Goth kids and Lloyd's trip to the Gas n' Sip parking lot? Think about it: a couple of seperate shots of people giving their (pretty bleak) advice on life/love, followed by a shot of a much younger person saying something completely out of left field for someone their age ("Bitches man!"). Or was it just a coincidence?
