No, I don't think they are putting down gay people, any more than they are putting down black people by having Chef drive a huge car and have a house with ghetto-chic decor, or putting down women by having Mr. Garrison say "they were probably all on their periods," or etc. etc. etc. I think they are making fun of stereotypes and preconceptions of all types. FWIW, their collaborator Marc Shaiman, who co-wrote "Blame Canada" and many of the songs on "Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics," is openly gay.
