They were definitely saying Kraft Dinner, which is what Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is called in Canada.

Then why would they go eat "Kraft Dinner" at Karl's Kroff Dinner Palace?

Maybe I don't remember it THAT well, but I think that the "Kraft" was actually Kroft. I remember reading it when they went to Karl Kroft's Dinner Palace.

But for the life of me, I spent a good 10 minutes thinking they were saying "crab" dinner. Oh well. But I'm rather certain it's actually "Kroft" dinner.

So, let me get this straight. In Canada it's called Kraft Dinner and in the US it's called Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinner. That can't be so. So when you Red White and Blue people wants some Kraft Dinner you have to say, "Hey ma, You gunna make me summa that Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinner?!". Or you could say. "Mom, I'd like some Kraft dinner now please."

Oh, alright this is really dumb but I'm bored.

BMP

I just call it macaroni and cheese

The only difference between genius and insanity is the measure of success----Elliot Carver(Jonathan Pryce) "Tomorrow Never Dies"

See you're missing the point-- the marketing! Here in the US there was a big marketing push based on the Macaroni & Cheese part-- we don't use "dinner" we just say Mac & Cheese. Kraft went on this big push to call it "Cheese And Macaroni" thus emphasizing how cheesy it is and it's the cheesiest etc.

Like from what I saw on my trip in June to Vancouver and Jasper N.P., what we in the states call soft drink you guys call pop.

What's even more confusing down here in New Orleans, is that they are often referred to (especially by blacks) as cold drink. Don't ask them that you want a pop.

Here in Ohio they are Pop's but in Boston it's a Soda

That's actually more of a northern thing. Here in Minnesota we call it Pop. It's actually called different things all over. In some parts of the country they call all soft drinks "Coke" even if it's Pepsi.

I've overheard this conversation before:

"I'd like a coke with that too" "What kind of coke?" "Oh, I'll take an Orange coke".

Pop.

Yer right 'bout that! If it's carbonated, it's a COKE. Unless it's Root-Beer. Don't worry 'bout it, It's just a "southern thang". (actually, there are "some" southerners who drink "Pop", but that's mostly up in the hills of Kentucky and backwoods of Tennessee. Us civilized southerners consider it illegal and nasty.)

LM

Ben YarbroughLee McCauslin

That's "Moonshine" in the areas you speak of... Some of us Tennessee Backwoods people called it soda. :-)

And I thought I was the only one who called any cola beverage "coke" or "pop". Here in Toledo, Ohio, those are mostly said out loud. Apparently, when I get a drink at a restaurant that serves Pepsi instead of Coke, I still refer to it as "Coke." I never seem to use any other words such as "soda," "soda pop," or even "cola." Go figure!

No, that would be just one big fucking waste of time. We usually pound on the table w/ the butts of our shotguns screamin "hhoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwweeeeee!" or maybe, if we really want it NOW, we'll fire off a few shots into the air. If we're lucky, we can bag a few pigeons, too!

Fuck you, canada-boy. I-i-mean... Have good luck, Canada-boy!

Who the fuck cares what the schwag is called? At best, it is ok to eat when you're really stoned. At worst, you'll eat one bite then either order a pizza, or make a quick trip to your favorite fast food joint.

Actually, I don't live with my mother. I haven't since i was 17. Fear, does this mean that the avg canadian always lives with his mother, no matter what the age? Man, I thought all those Canadian Incest rumors were false... guess not. This is how it usually goes down in my apt: me: "Man, I'm hungry" roomate: "hmm, order a pizza" me: "nah, can't really afford it tonight" company: "do you have anything to eat here" me: "hmm, nothing I feel like actually having to cook" me: "wait i think there's some mac and cheese. Maybe if I eat it with my eyes closed, it will taste better..." Plus, if you get the kind with the "dry" packet of stuff, you actually gotta have milk and butter. blah.. eat Ramen Noodles instead.... fill up yer coffee pot, throw the noodles in, turn pot on, 5min later, mix in packet and you're done. Now, in honor of Canada, their national anthem... "Oh Canada! My something something land. uhm, do dooo do do, do do do doooo dooo do..." Oh well, it's not like they have a culture anyway...

Maybe you need to remember your friggin' nation's favorite song:

Yankee Doodle went to town Riding on a pony Stuck a feather in his cap and called it MACARONI

I'd rather drink beer, watch hockey, eat KD and sing the national anthem than to turn on violent Television with no culture, watch some kids in a Southern state shooting others, get a gun, run over some disadvantaged poor people with no medical insurance... you're country's fucked!

Scott Newman Vancouver, BC Go Roughriders!

Obviously you are the one that hasn't been paying attention. In the episode "Not without my anus" Terrence and Phillip are obviously standing out front of an obvious building, that so obviously says right above the door KROFF. Watch it again, and get back to us when you get an obvious clue.

GUMPELSENSJako

Well, when all else fails, I act nice and explain things, so here it goes. OK, in Canada and the US, we both have Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. The Canadians call it 'Kraft Dinner'. But, if Trey Parker and Matt Stone called it 'Kraft Dinner' on TV, they would get sued by the nice Kraft people. In order to prevent this, they changed the name to 'Kroff' dinner, but everyone knows that they mean 'Kraft' dinner, the macaroni and cheese dinner very popular in Canada (which I think tastes like crap unless you use a little skim milk to make the cheese creamy instead of clumpy powdery stuff). If you still don't get it, who cares? It's not important.

MaagicGUMPELS

If I had been Kraft Inc, I would have JUMPED at the chance to let South Park plug my product.

GUMPELSMaagic

Me too. People are just stupid that way.

GUMPELS wrote in message ...

Kraft Dinner, in Canada anyway, has reached an iconic status that South Park could not hope to reach. Such status that the company actually changed the name of the product to what people called it. It used to be called Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Dinner, as it is in the United States.

Actually, you're supposed to add 1/4 of a cup of milk. Not that it really helps all that much, though.

Cheers,

fAiThLe55

Hey, am I missing something? I thought it was "Kroff" dinner. There's a scene where T&P are standing in front of "Karl's Kroff Dinner Palace". Regardless, I think I'll just go put on a pirate's costume.

While it is Kroff Dinner on the show for (presumably) legal reasons, they were making fun of Kraft Dinner.

God, where do these fucking idiots come from??? I just finished saying, they call it Kroff in the episode, but in real life it's called KRAFT Dinner. We're discussing KRAFT dinner.

Shut up, moron. You can speak when you have something of interest to add.

Scott Newman Vancouver, BC Go Roughriders!

Ben YarbroughENSJako

Hey fella... he had it right. We were MEANT to interpret it as "Kraft." BUT, T/P didn't have the (a) authority, and/or (b) desire to use the actual name, "K-R-A-F-T." Same thing with Cheesy Poofs (vice Cheetos or some other trademarked brand.) Same thing with the Reces Pieces in "E. T." M&M's didn't give permission to use their product in the movie.

Next time you start a response with the words "Obviously you," PLEASE, take the time to consider your arrogance and just how deflated you'll feel after the flames die down.

Ben

Ah, so it WAS a reference to a Kraft mac & Cheese! They couldn't use the real name without tradename infringements.

Frank LemireBen Raines

In article ,

You're right - but not why you think you're right. What you yanks know as mac and cheese dinner, we Canadians know as "Kraft Dinner". It is a staple of any Canadian household, and frequently goes on sale during exam week [its cheaper than real food]. In the T&P espisode, they call it "Kroff dinner" to get around any trademark issues.
