Just a thought. What kind of a strange disease or disorder could cause what is otherwise a mentally fully-functional child, capable of thinking, feeling, comprehending, and even scheming, shout his name all the time for no apparent reason?

Well, if who raised him assumed he was severely retarded, he might find it hard to learn much new vocabulary. One's own name is something most severly retarded beings can learn, and most people seem to reward Timmy w/ praise & laughs when he says his own name. So he keeps saying it. Couple that with a genuine lack of ability to enunciate, and there ya go.
Besides, I don't know if he's "fully-functional" as you say. Sure, he can do all those things you mentioned, but that doesn't mean he's fully functional, mentally speaking.

Yes. Slightly deficient individuals can learn and scheme. I think there is a stereotype that such people are innocent, happy-go-lucky folk without an evil thought in their heads. I like the way SP showed this not to be always the case.

Well, my mother has it, and when she gets excited, she does have some spasms in her legs, but she doesn't yelp..she has spastic CP, so the spasms do have somethign to do w/ the CP...but they're not so bad that it looks like she's totally fucked up...she's very capable of many things you or I do...hell, she gave birth to me 16 years ago (and I'm perfectly able-bodied), she's married to an able-bodied man (my dad), she runs her own business (Gimpy Graphics) that she does web design & desktop publishing...so yes, CP can affect some people worse than others, but it's a difference from person to person, because it affects a part of the brain, and therefore, if it hits one person more than another, they'll have more problems.
But, I do appreciate the fact that you know what you're talking about...most people think that it's makes a person retarted to, but it doesn't...and you have some that think it's contagious, but it isn't. :-P

Exactly what I said...well, they're in a wheelchair...they're fucked up completely...physically & mentally. (What I was stating earlier about people's assumptions.) But, personally...I love these people that think it's contagious or something & will go down another isle to get to the back side of one my mom & I are at...just to avoid going around her. Or, those that just look...I finally got pissed one day & said "What? You've never seen a person in a wheelchair? Take a mother-fuckin' picture...it'll last longer."...it works everytime!

Hilarious! Reminds me of when this blnd guy we knew (with Guide Dog and all) was waiting to cross the street. The light turned green, but since he hadn't pushed the button the red hand showed, not the green guy.
