Killfile...

Howdy ho people. It's your favourite 'troll' or whatever that is come back to make your insignificant lives worth living. Please tell me what a 'killfile' is, and what the significance of the word *PLONK* is. I expect lots of useless replies on the lines of 'are you stupid or what' etc... Till we all meet again.

A killfile is a filter that automatically bypasses messages of people specified by its user, so they never have to read messages from that poster again.

*PLONK* is the "sound effect" to indicate a person has been added to a killfile.

I'm using Netscape Discussion....I don't see killfile or similar...anyone know something I am missing?

I use the same one you do...click on "edit" and then "mail filters" You just select "senders address contains.." type in there name...and no more trolls. -me

Depending on the exact version, you may have only something that's called "Ignore thread" (under the "Message" menu). Unfortunately that may only kill a specific thread, not a person, phrase, etc. (Better than nothing, but it still leaves something to be desired.) Neither Netscape nor IE seem to be very deep into strong filtering capabilities compared to some older and/or lesser-known programs.

I saw that but I thought it was for email messages only.

Look for a filter or something with a similar name,(I have to click on the post and along the top bar it asks if I wanna kill it, try something like this) someone else probably posted help before me but I have a strange way of replying to posts?

Sorry, I use netscape comunicator as well and there is no killfile. You have to download one of the web. Here the address for one someone pointed out to me http://www.desisoft.com/
