Why does Chef call Cartman Children???

In the episode Cartman's mom is a dirty slut there is a point where Cartman thinks Chef is his dad there is one thing weird about the scene Chef talks as if he is talking to the children as in more than one but only Cartman is there why is this???

You know what's purely amazing? This thread has been in this NG ever since the Cliffhanger episode appeared... yet no one has ever noticed another big inconsistency in the use of grammar. I refer to: "THEY killed Kenny" even when it's not always a THEY that kills him. Kenny has been killed many times by someone singular (Garrison in WG 4000, Ned in Volcano, Jimbo in Damien, himself in Mecha Streisand) and yet it's always "Oh my God, THEY killed Kenny!" Of course there are a few exceptions (Jay Leno's chin killed Kenny, I killed Kenny, and of course the total lack of anyone killing Kenny in Mr. Hankey) but these are thrown in for comic variety. Thoughts?

I've been waiting for this...my theory is they are referring to Matt and Trey. Since the two ARE the ones that plan how the unlucky soul will die each episode. "OH MY GOSH! THEY KILLED KENNY!" seems Kyle can't get over that.

Another theory of mine...Kenny knows hes going to die...evidence? The Christmas
episode my friends, and Mecha Streisand, that looked like suicide to me.

One of two things: either Cartman is such a fat ass that he looks like more than one child, or Chef has a bad case of double vision. (Which Stan and Kyle seem to have caught, since "they" always kill Kenny, even when "they" is a singular object or person)

It is because it is one of his gimmicks to make the show more funny and it makes you think. They did it on purpose.

I don't know. But I had that same problem when in the Army when a couple of drill sergeants were addressing a whole group of us as "private" and not "privates". Not many people picked that one up, when Chef talks to them as a group he always refers to them as children. That was just a little joke for die hard SP fans.
