Binaries are encoded data that couldn't be sent in their natural form over Usenet. Or email, for that matter. Pics, sounds files, movies and the like all have to be encoded, generally with UUencode but tastes they do vary, to be sent onto Usenet or through email. I'm sure there's a FAQ about them somewhere...

Okay, I would like to say thank you to everyone that answered my question. I also want to thank you all for not giving me some smart ass answer. And lastly, I agree with all of you who say that binaries really make them angry because I hate it when my computer starts to download some file that takes forever.
