heh heh, got access to the Tivo group using a friend's ISP...
Anyway, here's a strike against Tivo: [which could easily happen to ReplayTV users as well, I suppose]

TiVo downloaded an ad to my machine Thursday. It was in the form of a message, but they didn't stop there. The next time I hit the TiVo button (top center of remote), instead of taking me to the menu, it took me the the message. They wanted me to sell my friends on buying a TiVo.
I certainly hope this sort of thing stops right there. The last thing I want is an ad every time I hit the TiVo button.
