Innocence

Does anyone else think that the series has lost a lot of the innocence it used to have?

For example....

410/411 Do the handicapped go to hell?

This was a bit serious for a comedy series wasn't it?

416 The Wacky Molestation Adventure

Sending their parents away was one thing, but the way they portrayed the town seemed a little...odd....

501 Scott Tenorman Must Die

I didn't think Cartman would be capable of such things! It just wasn't funny!

506 Cartmanland

Kyle loses the will to live?

Don't get me wrong, I still love the series, but it seems a lot more serious than it used to be and the humour seems to be a lot darker too....is this the way it's going to stay? I mean, Towelie and Fingerbang are a lot more like the "old style" of South Park and....do you think this is the right direction?

I definitely thing the series is getting darker! I was waiting for the joke at the end of "501 Scott Tenorman Must Die", but then it just ended (with a "That's all folks!" even). I was thinking, "What the Hell! That was disturbing!" Although, everything in the episode before the very end was absolutely hilarious.

It isn't funny if Cartman triumphs. Cartman must perpetualy be humiliated and made to suffer! Like in "CartmanLand"! Sweet! I mean, what if Col. Klink came out on top over Hogan?? That's downright unAmerican!! (If Scott Tenorman subsequetly made chili our of Cartman's mom, all Cartman would care about is was there enough for seconds.)

This was ok, although somewhat disappointing as far as a 2-parter goes. The only confusing and contradictory aspect of this 2-parter was that only Mormons go to heaven. However, Jesus's speech at the end of this 2-parter indicated that there was no need for the children to devote their entire lives serving God's will. However, at no point in his speech does he indicate that they must be Mormon. So in fact, it didn't matter what the children did with their lives, they were going to hell no matter what they did, because they weren't Mormon.

This was the best episode since season 2. I enjoyed the surprise ending.

Fingerbang was a good episode as well. I think the biggest problem with the series as it stands now is that they are trying to replace creative and original plot lines with nothing but random gross out jokes. I mean, plots revolving around Underpants Stealing Gnomes at least requires some thought. However, Kenny giving an erotic massage to his grandfather or giving Howard Stern a hummer just isn't funny at all.
