Jeez...really... I mean, the son of god according to who...you??? Religion should definitely be a prime target for this show's humor. If you can't have fun with something as silly and trivial as religion, then why make the show at all.
Did you ever see the Spirit of Christmas? In it, Jesus fights Santa Claus, throwing lasers and such, spouting out such holy phrases as Fu*kin Pussy!!! Does THAT offend you? Whether you believe in those ancient myths that say Jesus is the son of god or not, one fact remains true. He is a well known figure in Pop Culture and history. He is a celebrity. With that being true, he's open to all forms of hatred and playful satire.
They made fun of Hugh Grant...is that any different??? Jesus is just a name. A nice guy that once lived on Earth. They didn't demean him in any way, so there's no harm done. I'm sure there are many worse sacriledges occuring for you and your little organization to stop.
I, personally, love satire. Especially when it tackles something that's taken so seriously.
Jesus is just another good guy whose message got lost in the history books.
I've read the Bible. Jesus was a funny guy. Often used puns and irony. I'm sure your saviour would not care that Trey Parker and Matt Stone are making a comedy central cartoon featuring him. He'd probably love it.
I read a bumper sticker today that read "I am God, Jesus is my bitch". Maybe you should set fire to the company that made it. When will you people stop. If you don't like something and it offends you, don't watch it. Just say that it's in bad taste and you don't enjoy it's brand of humor. Some people are not as close-minded as you and love a good laugh.

Well, the majority of people either love it, or think it's immature. I say...both. Sacrilegious.. Hehehehe.
Why, in (fill in the blank)'s name, do you get offended by this show. C'mon. Do you feel you're sticking up for Jesus? Do you feel you have to??? Keeping his name sacred while a vile Comedy Central cartoon gets the funeral it deserves??? Why must you take it so seriously? Your intolerance disgusts me. Your almighty crusade against a 30 min. cartoon is supposed to prove your faith. Brownie points, perhaps? All you're doing is making many people suffer for your beliefs. Sound familiar. People love this show. You're trying to deprive them of a show they love. Why??? Because you'll fell better??? Sense of Humor and religion don't mix??? Tell me why.
Well, your faith must be pretty weak, if you can't even handle your saviour taking some criticism.
And your pseudo-blissful blessing for me irks me beyond belief. But, whatever.
Thanks anyway. I could always use an extra blessing.
Damn, if there is, by some miracle, an actual Christian Heaven and it's filled with people like you, I'd rather go to your Hell. At least there, they'll be some people willing to think for themselves and not blindly regurgitate the teachings of their parents.

You prayed for my soul, I pray for your lost sense of humor. Nice talking to you Edwina. I hope you enjoyed, at least some of, my ranting. I'm not Christian, but I know many many hard core Chistians who would be repulsed to have you representing them.
I'm not Islamic, but I'm guessing that you're probably going to their Hell. See how fun religion can be...
I dunno, maybe it's the fact that the show didn't actually make fun of Jesus...
Why must you take away my cartoons, simply because you don't fancy it.
Stay along your path. I hope you find happiness.

If Michael were to go to hell, who'd keep you company?
Besides that, if it causes you so much pain, why do you watch it? If you don't watch it, then it shouldn't bother you. It's about time you started worrying about yourself and quit trying to live everyone else's life for them or at least let people make their own decisions. You decided you don't like it, so don't watch it. Michael decides he likes it so let him watch it. Why must you religious freaks try to control what everyone else does?
Just go away, or at least mind your own business. And if you tell me that I'm going to hell, well, I'll meet you there.

You failed miserably all those times. As an SP fan, I'm counting on Donald Wildmon or a similar pharisee to start a call for a boycott, which will attract enough attention to the show to drive the ratings way up.

The mailing list is a great list to subscribe your enemies to.
Trust me, the list sucks, don't bother.
Now, as for the "decrease in quality" on SP...I'd have to say that's utter nonsense. The football episode, in my mind, was DEFINITELY better than the Volcano episode. Who can forget these classic moments? (OH MY GOD! HE'S GOING TO GIVE US QUOTES! WHAT A BASTARD!)
(these are rough paraphrases, as I don't have the script in front of me)
Jimbo: Jesus...I know I don't ask you for much...but please, just this one time...LET US BEAT THE SPREAD! Jesus: Leave me alone.
The animals and Stan dancing on the discotheque floor?
The numerous "bad calls" by the announcer?
Jimbo, Ned, and the explosives guy, all trying to hit that high F?
I'm sure there were better moments, but these stick out in my mind. Besides, the only thing I found REALLY funny about the Volcano episode was the Duck and Cover video. Take it from me...I've seen the real thing, and it's ALMOST as absurd. I leave you with a (roughly quoted) line from it:
"When you see the flash, duck and cover. Protect the back of your neck from the heat. You'll be killed by rocks, winds, and flying debris anyway."

In Usenet terms, a troll is a post designed to outrage people, prompting them to post angry replies and hopefully start a flame war that will last for months, filling up the newsgroup with so much invective and other useless crap that many people will just give up and go away, leaving it to the people who like flaming to carry on the fight.
These days, a lot of troll posts are written as if from a person with too much religion and not enough common sense, because it's a given that if somebody trashes something as anti-christian there will be plenty of fans who will issue kneejerk responses before realizing that they've been hooked by the troll.
Edwina seems unusually dedicated, since they are continuing to respond to replies. While there is a chance that Edwina is a real religious nut who feels this way, it's more likely they're an adolescent to college aged male who's getting a major ego boost out of how successful their troll has been.

On the contrary, programs that produce this kind of reaction in people like you are destined to thrive. In addition, South Park is already the highest-rated of its broadcaster's original series. That translates to advertising dollars, which will mean a lot more than pathetic threats from the God Squad. The creators of South Park should be delighted at your shrieking, since there are not many things that enhance an artist's reputation *more* than being denounced by religious control-freaks as an example of worldly evil.

In the context of the portrayal of Jesus in South Park, I believe that you need to take a more objective look at what actually is and is not presented. It's the same way with the Monty Python movie "Life of Brian". An awful lot of Christians claim that the movie is blasphemous, but it really isn't. It's just a colossal case of mistaken identity.
Besides, cartoons don't sway my thinking one way or the other. I don't believe Jesus attends elementary school football games any more than I think I can hit someone on the head with an anvil and make an accordion out of them.
You really have to watch out for letting dogma get the better of you. For example, standard Protestant Christianity holds that there were two people crucified at Calvary with Christ, right? Now, postulating that:
A) God, by definition, is perfect, therefore B) His Word is perfect, and since C) The Bible says "All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, and correction"
Then it stands to reason that: D) the Bible should not contradict itself, no matter who the author of the account is, since it was all given by God anyway.
Given that, and the crucifixion story as presented above, then why do Matthew and Luke contradict each other? They give two separate accounts of the order of events, and they don't agree. The only way both stories could be true is if there were four people crucified with Christ, something hardly any modern church teaches. (Indeed, an early Christian shrine in Normandy depicts Calvary with five crosses...)
Get your entertainment from cartoons and your spirituality from the Word, and let everything else sort itself out at Judgment Day.

Are you really allowed to say "pricked"?

Ed, I have some bad news for you.
After reading all the trolling that you've done on this newsgroup, my Father has decided that you are exempt from the covenant. While I died for everyone's sins, your actions here have forced him to judge you as being ineligible for redemption through my act of sacrifice. I tried to talk him out of it, but he was pretty adamant about this one.
Sorry, but it appears that you're going to Hell, and nothing either of us can do about it. Tell you what, though - if you behave yourself, I'll see what I can do about which circle Lucifer and his pals decide to stick you in. Play nice, and we'll shoot for Limbo so you can spend eternity debating with Plato, Socrates and all the other intellectuals Dante ran into on his trip through the hot place.
Otherwise, I hear Hitler's looking for some company in the ovens...

+ok, ok, I hate it when my fellow Christians do this. I watched Southpark and not once did anybody say anything bad about Jesus. In fact I thought it was pretty funny. For all of you that want to stop the show because of it, try this- STOP WATCHING IT!! studies have already shown that a good pecentage of people watching a show actually find it offensive but keep on watching.
Howard Stern for example? or hows about Ellen's coming out show. you know that 40% of the viewers never had watched the show before then and actually opposed it being shown?
Guys and Gals, get with it. If you find a show offensive, DON"T WATCH IT!!!
This thread reminds me of one in alt.tv.simpsons about this guy who thinks that
1. They make fun of Chinese because they are yellow. 2. They make fun of people who lost fingers during wars because they only have 4 fingers.
My god! He is such a hypocrite! He can't even spell Chinese! Chinesse, ha!

First of all, because my words are always twisted into something that makes less sense than Democratic politicians, let me say that I'm not disagreeing with you. But no matter how many time you tell people not to watch things they don't like, someone's going to bitch at you for it. I was once told that I was restricting someone's Constitutional rights because I used that same phrase. So expect flames. I've been there.
