They're very different... the movie and book. Similar plot and a few of the same characters, but very different stories.

Timerider is a pretty fun movie if you don't take it too seriously. Fred Ward rocks and Peter Coyote plays an awesome villain.

I saw it too. As a matter of fact, I remember seeing it in the theatre when I was a kid, not that it's important.
