South Park after the film was passed uncut by the British Board Of Film Classification. American censors took exception to parts of the film, specifically scenes featuring sodomy between Saddam Hussein and Satan. Consequently, the film was substantially cut, and was given an R certificate, meaning those under the age of 17 have to be accompanied by an adult. A Christian website, crosstalk.com, describes the film as "intentionally immoral, with the most vile content in the history of mainstream movie-making; 340 counted obscenities... 14 profanities and many disgusting bodily functions, including vomiting, bloody violence... extreme sex including homosexuality and paedophilia... this is a blasphemous, evil movie. EVIL." In the UK, the film has been granted a 15 certificate, allowing anyone over that age to see it unaccompanied, and not a frame was chopped. A spokesman for the BBFC explained: "You can't really generalise, but the Americans are very strict about sexual material above all else. We didn't have a problem with anything in the film." Ironically, the film's full title is South Park: Bigger, Longer And Uncut and pokes fun at the hypocrisy of most censorship regarding war, violence and sex. Trey Parker, who together with Matt Stone create South Park, hit out at the current "climate of fear" in the wake of the Columbine massacre and the hypocrisy of the US censors, he declared: "It's just scary - going through the trailer process and getting the notes back (from the censors) that say, 'You just can't fart.' It's like, the shot of the guy shooting the M60 and all these people getting shot - that was OK. But the guy farting has to go." "Whoever died of a fart?" Stone concluded. The movie is released in the UK on August 27.

IT WAS *NOT* CUT! Any scenes that were objected to were replaced by even MORE horrifying stuff (such as replacing the bestiality scene with one of Cartman's mom in a German shit video).
Exept for a few of the more anal theaters, kids got into the film more often than not. Those that were did so mainly to look good in front of the local news, and when the newscrews went home, it went back to biz as usual.
The film had already gotten past MPAA scrutiny. All the Valenti wannabe's at the BBFC did was pass it along. They saw how the MPAA took it in the nutsack over creative content, and they did'nt want to risk having themselves looking like censors by getting their hands in it.
But read his next line which does just that.

Clockwork Orange was WITHDRAWN by Stanley Kubrick himself! Due to tabloid speculation that it would cause copy-cat violence. Kubrick said "Oh you think so? Well f**k you, you can't have the film!"
A little extreme reaction. But one that hasd yet to be overturned by his estate.

This post wasn't a US-Bash. It was just pointing out the irony that perhaps the UK will get a Longer version of a US movie that pruports to be Uncut and *is* an American phenomenon.

What do you mean BOTH scenes? As it sez in Highlander, "there can be only one". Chances are the UK version will have the same "shitzen" scene as the US version does. In fact, I would'nt be surprised if all the very same film prints that were used in the US theaters are then shipped to Europe for screenings there.

It was "cut", but only to insert scenes of even more tastelessness (ie, switching a 30 second beastophile scene with one lasting three minutes ending with Cartman's mom getting shat on).
If Paramount plays it smart, it can use one of DVD's advantages to have BOTH scenes on the disc, and the viewer can toggle back and forth as they chose.
We'll see. But like I said, chances are you'll just get the vary same film prints we got to see last June.
BTW, Parker & Stone were doing this film long before the Columbine jock-o-cide. It happened to land in the theaters just in time for all the Soccer-moms and Aryan politicians to be unknowingly creating the best prepublicity that Paramount could ever have wanted. IMO, it certainly tossed a bucket of icewater on these types and told them to "SHUT THE F*CK UP!!!".

Yes, but a picture of bestiality is shown when Dr. Vos Knocker asks Cartman to say ''horse fucker." How would the movie have been if the man and horse were actually in motion?
How would the movie have been if Saddam were actually shown mounting Satan, with the lights on? Instead, we get Saddam exposing a fake penis twice.
The film ended up being gleefully disguting without being very sexual.
