OK, that didn't totally suck

I thought last night's episode of "That's My Bush!" was about 200 percent better than the first one. That still doesn't make it a masterpiece, but the execution scene was pretty funny.

The fat guy (Bob McRae <sp?>) who played one of Bush's Yale frat boys -- dang, I was on stage with him 20 years ago doing Shakespeare! It was "Midsummer Night's Dream" -- he played Nick Bottom (the weaver) and I was Tom Snout (the tinker). He was also the ONLY professional actor in the production -- the rest of us were all amateurs.

I saw him about 5 years later in a completely professional production of "As You Like It" at South Coast Rep.

Sweet! Why not give him a call, proceed to become good pals with Matt & Trey, and invite us all out to the beach to hang with them?

I remember him from a couple other places, IIRC. Wasn't he in one episode of Drew Carey? And somewhere else too that I was thinking about today but can't remember do to a really bad fart I just let.

That was actually the first one I saw, which gave me great hopes for this week...which I turned off fifteen minutes in, it was so painful.

Either Parker and Stone are in total Sophmore Slump, or Comedy Central is riding this show so hard it's barely theirs. I'm guessing more of the latter than the former.

I liked both the premiere and the execution episode. But, the third episode (about the psychic phone operator, etc.) really did suck.

I think I'm on to this show,and if you aren't going to take in in this mode you are not going to like it of get it. They are making every reference they can to "stupidity in our culture." The Rastafari Tarot ladies. Stupid overhyped games like "Clue." Bad spinoff imitations from "Poirot." And Bush being a total fucking idiot. If you can't find a reference to some specific cultural icon in every scene, you're missing what's going on. I think these guys sit around thinkin, "God, what was with that stupid thing this week? "Hey, how can we work it into a script?" "Make a list! -- a LONG list!" And what is with that portait of Clinton in the main room?? Is there one in real life like that, where he's looking down and dejected??

In the "No, the point was about ten miles over *that* way" department, this letter from today's New Orleans "TV Focus" letters column:

"The program 'That's My Bush' shown on Comedy Central April 4 was the most distasteful and degrading program to the presidency I have ever seen. They could have at least changed the names of the characters to sound fictitious. The mentality of TV has sunk to a new level! I hope this program will be removed immediately! -- D.G.B."

I love the part about changing the names to sound fictitious.
