My Take on "Raisins"

     Since I don't see too many posts on "Raisins", I might as well give my two
cents.
     I think that it's a parody of a scenario that happens in a lot of movies
with an all-male cast(I can't think of any right now, but I know they've got
it).  One of the guys is down on himself because his girl dumped him, so his
buddies almost literally twists his arm into going to either a strip club or a
brothel.
Also(in rare occassions of this scenario), there's almost always one guy who
misinterprets one of the girls' attention toward him as something other than
mercenary.  Replace the stripclub/brothel with a HOOTERS-type restaurant and
knock 10-15 years of the girls, and that's what you get.
     Oh yeah, and it's a parody of goth culture, too.

I figured it was something like that. A plot that didn't seem original, but the way SP does it... it ALWAYS brings laughs. I like how Butters' girl was pouring beer/lemonade on tap while on the phone with him.

I loved the "training" bit with the new girl. That's so DEAD ON! The zone, the physical contact, the same line (over and over) about "cool guys" and others being lame, using their name, the water guns and toys to entertain/show off body, and the attitude. I bet today at HOOTERS all the gals are laughing their asses off. I bet EACH of them had a guy who waited for them at least once being either niave, innocent, missunderstanding, or crazed.

I loved "flip hair." He kept on (flick) talking and every (flick) so often needed to (flick) get his hair out of (flick) the way...

I loved Kyle delivering the line about "real pain." I could sense Matt Stone and his "big bullhorn to yell at American with (SP)" feelings coming through. While one could argue the pain we feel, all pain, is relative. The pain Goths claim to have may be all too real to them and having never lived in a 3rd World Country to claim that's "real pain" may be meaningless. I have to take the side of Kyle on pain that Goths claim to have that they are so angry at the world, messengers of the Underworld, drab, gray, and sad is just bullshit. How many are suburban white boys and girls who just had a single parent or just need to belong? How many are just smokers and underachievers?

"GOTH TALK" on SNL so hit the nail on the head. Tod (Azrael Abyss, The Prince of Sorrow) worked at Cinnibuns, the Tampa Bay Goths are in competition with the Miami Goths, they lamented when one of their friend's father had to take a job (Michelle Gellar's dad) with marketing for the Hard Rock Cafe, and Gellar's character was in her 8th grade talent show ...when was normal and before her dark side took to her.

There's a scene like that in The Player's Club where some guy follows one of the strippers home because he mistakes her "affection" for him at the strip club as real affection. If you haven't seen the The Player's Club yet, go rent it. One of the funniest movies ever made.
