I just found out on this newsgroup that Jesus died in Iraq on an episode of South Park. Can someone give me some more details on how this happen? He can come back; right? He is Jesus; he's done it before.
Jesus dead?

Jesus died trying to save Santa Claus, whose sled was shot down over Iraq while he and Mr. Hanky tried to bring Christmas to the Iraquianians.
Because of his valiant effort, Mr. Hanky persuaded everyone in South Park to keep Christmas as a day to remember Jesus.
I doubt that he'll be back. He was pretty dead, and dead is dead.

Perhaps Kenny will give him some tips on coming back from the dead.

This, and world current events gave me an idea: Let's see what kind of Balls Matt & Trey have, and let them have a cartoon character of Mohammad like they did Jesus. Something tells me they would quit the series than do it! But, they should be do it-it's just the natural progression. wrote in message news:[email]...
They already did in the "Super Best Friends" episode in Season 5. When it aired, a friend of mine said they were asking for trouble because Mohammed is not supposed to be depicted, but I never heard of any serious backlash. Maybe it's because they caricatured prophets and deities from all the major religions.

Mind the wrap. I just tried it again, and it was okay.
That did the trick. Thanks! Very interesting article, although I believe the episode didn't create much outrage because the average person, no matter what his or her faith, isn't that easily offended. I'm sure the most hardcore conservative members of all the religions depicted were thoroughly enraged by the episode, but those people tend to get pissed off about almost everything, so there's no point even trying to appease them.
BTW, I thought it was one hell of a funny episode! The giant John Wilkes Booth was brilliant!

Yeah, they would probably be killed. I do love to trash xianity, but I have to admit it is not a particularly violent cult (anymore). Catholics were extremely upset over that Bloody Mary episode where the statue of Mary was bleeding out its ass, but while they complained and probably threatened a boycott of sponsors, they did not riot or torch the network headquarters because their precious god was blasphemed.
Oh, but they did touch on izlam in at least one episode: "Osama has Farty Pants" had what seemed to be a condescending scene of Osama on a prayer rug, and in an early episode Chef converts to izlam.
I also remember South Park going after Mor(m)ons and even Scientology, and neither cult went bezerk over it. They totally blasphemed Moronism, saying the Book of Moron was made up by the supposedly holy prophet; the same blasphemous suggestion by Salman Rushdie in "The Satanic Verses" was enough to cause moozlums to riot and the ayatollah to issue a death fatwah against him. And yet the Mor(m)ons didn't riot, they did not make death threats against Trey & Matt, they did not torch the studio, they did not go around kidnapping tourists, and I'm not sure they even suggested a boycott.
What the fuck is wrong with izlam?

Even in South Park, dead is dead. It's not like Looney Tunes where you see Wile E. Coyote get killed over and over only to come back unharmed. In South Park, once you're dead, you stay dead. Except for Kenny.

Actually, in the looney tunes, Wile E Coyote never got killed. I think the only death in the LTs was bugs in 'what's opera doc?' and even then he still had a line after his 'death': "Well, what did you expect in an opera? A happy ending?"

OK, technically you are correct.
Are you sure? I don't recall for certain, but I seem to remember some Looney Tunes characters dying and their spirits ascending to the clouds whilst strumming a harp. But that may have been some other old cartoon like Tom & Jerry or something...
