Desensitized

I wonder if it's possible to be densensitized to terrific comedy? (Like what I feel South Park is.) I hope not. Desensitizing someone that way (if possible) I think would be one of the meanest things to do. If innovative multi-tiered humor (my opinion of South Park again) becomes old hat - then what do we do?

I sort of discussed this in a Kenny-related thread, but a person can only be desensitized to a static stimulus. That is, if South Park were the same joke over and over again-- even if it were a very, very good joke-- then it would be possible to become desensitized to it. As long as they keep coming with new and clever jokes, desensitization is impossible. (But once they start recycling humor-- watch out!)

Simple:

The Three Stooges.

There are several ways to be desensitized for any and all things, continuous are sporatic. There's always the physical way, which is, labatomize. Or a chemical labotomy through pharmacueticals. Even a deep truama or emotional distress could cause a general desensitized state of reaction towards humor in general, or a specific humor should that truama have been induced in a controlled way, such as subversion or torture. And of course, a person could always choose to conciously block out that which is found to be funny.

I feel that the real culprit in this case, will be time. In time all things change. I mean, does the line, 'Take my wife, please.' make you spontaneously burst out with laughter?

At one point, that's exactly what that line did to certain people of a past generation.
