I think that worrying about continuity when it comes to South Park is lame, and I'd rather they came up with a better thread.

The idea, I think, was that he WAS full of sh*t. You and I know that he was doing it for the fun of it, but his explanation was accepted due to the fact that such wierdness is commonplace in SP. It was a convenient excuse along the vein of a gunman who shoots someone out of anger, but when he discovers that his victim had a gun, decides to say that he had reason to believe that he was armed. He just happenes to have a convenient excuse. Keep in mind that continuity is the plaything of cartoonists. It doesn't have to be accurate, you can always come up with an explanation in retrospect.
