I kinda figured that, since it *was* going to air on April Fool's Day,
the chances were good that we would not, in fact, actually find out
who Cartman's father was. I have no problem with that concept.
However, what we actually got was very disappointing. We sat there
and watched the first five minutes of it and my husband said, "I sure
hope they wrap this part up quickly." It became clear as the show
continued past the first commercial break that this was not going to
happen.
It's one thing to pull some clever April Fool's joke on us viewers.
But what we actually saw was not at all clever and certainly not very
funny. It was so utterly banal that I had to stop watching after the
second commercial break came on. (My husband made the supreme sacrifice
of staying tuned long enough to watch the whole thing so that he could
summarize the gist of the plot for me after it was over.)
What with all the hype that this episode got in the two weeks prior
to its airing, and plus on top of that next week's show is a REPEAT, I
feel rather like we got gypped big time. If this was an experiment on
the part of Comedy Central, I hope they realize just how miserably it
failed. Hopefully they won't ever show that poor excuse for an episode
again.
