"The Pledge" ain't working.

Hate to be the one to say "I told you so", but, well...

I can't remember a time where this newsgroup was THIS full of miscreants
and trolls and desperate seekers of negative attention.  It was
CERTAINLY never this bad before the whole pledge thing got started.

The pledge is based on false assumptions. First, that trolls go away if they are ignored. Ask alt.fan.dragonlance about that one. Second, that trolling is neccessarily bad. Good trolling -- unlike most of the crap we get here -- is funny and a joy to read... Yakanoh was funny for about 47 seconds and is now just repetitive, but he can be ignored very easily. Same with Pstokely and all the other trolls around here.

When I pledged, I didn't realize what would happen. Do you all understand that it has actually increased the level of trolling in the ng, as the trolls laugh at our presumption? I'm unpledging. I don't plan to respond to trolls, but the pledge has not turned out to be a Good Thing.
