Just thought you all might want to um...how should I say it...convince [email] that binaries are not allowed here...

I sent a letter to him, not swearing, or insulting. Simply conveying the message that binary posts are not tolerated at this newsgroup. This is the response I got.

<< Pete is a homo. I'd like to meet up with him and kick his ass all over town. Perhaps I'll come over to his house sometime and post some binaries all over his scrawny little punk ass now that I know where he lives and what he looks like. Bitch.

I assume you still have the email from him. Send it on to [email] and give the the gist of the situation. I'm sure they'll be happy to hear about it.

What if [email] is really on another ISp? Go ahead........report me to AOL....ooooooooooooohhhh. Well Well Well. And perhaps Mr. Asshole P3 whatshisface and his lame ass band nerds are a bit mistaken. The email he sent me was quite abusive and a bit demanding as well. I don't take kindly to some nobodu punk telling me where to shit or wind my watch. No. Sorry. I'll post binaries wherever I want.........especially if requested to as in the aformentioned case which Ms. P3 was obviously ignorant of (among other countless things I'm sure.) So quit whining all you AOL losers. Get a real internet connection and stop bringing all of the rest of us down with your sob stories. WE DON"T CARE.

On Sun, 16 Nov 1997 01:12:40 -0500, "James G." offered this unto Shub-Internet:

Ignorant? There's definetly /someone/ ignorant posting to this thread. Read this: alt.tv.southpark. Do you see the word 'binary' in there? How about 'binaries'? No? That;s because _this_isn't_a_binary_group_. Do not post your binaries here. I don't care if god told you to post a binary of Cartman saying kickass, don't do it.

I have a real connection and I care. You should too. It's ignorant fuckups like you who are going to bring Usenet crashing down about our ears. Are you a spammer, too, pinkboy? A Freedom Knight? ONe of Enlow's or Grubor's posse? Eh, pink?

Ia Shub-Internet, Black Goat of a Thousand Servers! Ask not what Thee Shub can do for you, Ask what you can do for Thee Shub.

1. Since "binaries" is not mentioned in the heading of this newsgroup - it is alt.tv.southpark - they do not belong here 2. When you're expecting text and hit a file that takes 15 plus seconds to download - it is irritating as hell 3. Every line in the show is somewhere on the net. If people want it, they can go get - why put it here? 4. If someone wants to start a binary group, so be it, but this ain't the place for them. 5. If you have a problem with this, you can direct your comments to that brick wall over there!

**** Kenny didn't die at the Cable Ace Awards - what a bummer ****

Maybe you should consider emailing AOL about it, they do have an abuse email I think, not sure what it is, but from another NG I'm in they apparently do take things such as this seriously.

If only it were true...AOL is incredibly lax and lazy when it comes to actually pulling the accounts of *real* troublemakers. Tell me about it. I got my account TERMINATED because someone falsely reported me to AOL, saying i disrupted a chat room. When i called about it, they said they would put me on the phone with TOS, then it got disconnected. I had to start a whole new account. Didnt even get a damn apology. Which proves without a doubt- AOL SUCKS. Thank you.

Yup, you point out another big flaw here. (though it was a *good* flaw for you) After terminating somebodies acount, the person terminated can easilly just pop in one of those damn discs they mail out and get a new account! They don't check to see if thise person has been with them before and caused "trouble," they just see $$.

Hey, don't talk shit about AOL, I haven't had to buy blank disks in a long time!

I thought that was a great idea till I found out that the AOL disks aren't normal HD disks...they are a few bytes less than a normal disk, so it's impossible to do DISKCOPY to them.

Also, they tend to get corrupted after they've been used a few times.

Well, they don't have to be AOL disks to be cheap-crappy disks. Those ones you buy by the 100 at CompUSA are about the same quality.

Yeah, but that only works if they pay for it. You can't get multiple free trials on AOL with the same credit card.
